Evaluating Business Core Values

Don’t forget to look closely at your core values - for yourself, your team, or your brand.

Where were you a year ago?

I was on another zoom meeting, but this time I was saying goodbye to a wonderful team and getting ready to launch my new consulting business.  It forced me to think about the things I value most in business:

  • Collaboration.  Working with people who share a collaborative spirit. Bringing positive influence to new situations by solving tough problems and illuminating opportunities.

  • Strength.  Taking risks, not fearing setbacks, and as a result, rising up. Being resilient. Looking for ways to help my clients do the same.

  • Trustworthiness.  Being a trusted partner to companies and leaders, enabling clients to shine.

  • Wellness.  Doing things every day that fuel physical and mental wellbeing, the catalyst for effectiveness. Encouraging the same for my community.

  • Growth.  Continuing to learn new things.  Innovations (and revelations) this past year have given us new opportunities to influence positive change in so many ways.

This started as a loose, messy list of 25. Just like many business challenges, it was too complicated to digest until I narrowed it down to a powerful 5.  It was a complex thing that needed to be simplified into manageable and actionable guidelines.

This past year has been a chance for all of us to re-evaluate priorities.  Remember to look closely at your core values - for yourself, your team, or your brand.  Then, don’t be afraid to share them, nurture them, and act on them.
